Typical pump applications

Filterpress feed pump reduces cost at water treatment

Date: 03-09-2008

All water treatment plants produce waste, which has to be prepared for disposal, usually by filter pressing to minimize volumes and constrain the waste processing costs. Usually such waste is sent to landfill or incinerated giving a disposal cost based on the waste’s weight and volume.

The pump is an excellent feed pump for filter press applications. The layered hose gives a great protection against leakage of waste product into the environment.

Why use a peristaltic hose pump in a filter press?

Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps are very successful in the wastewater treatment. The pump is an excellent feed pump for filter press applications. The layered hose gives a great protection against leakage of waste product into the environment.

Filter presses need special pumps: the waste is abrasive, so if you use a progressing cavity pump the waste causes stator wear, slip and consequentially the pump’s flow will drop. On the other hand when using a peristaltic tube pump will this hose pump will not have damage of wear, because the only part that is in contact with the waste water is the hose.

The more over, our industrial hose pump eliminates “rat holes” (=water pulled from above the top of the sludge blanket). This is a phenomina that also occurs when pumping waste water in the filter press feed with a progressing cavity pump, thus increasing the water content (=the weight) and the volume of the pressed waste.

With a Verderflex peristaltic hose pump you eliminate wear (the hose is the only wearing part), the waste is pressed better thus less weighing and cost will be reduced enormously.
